4th of July

On Sunday, June 30, 2013 Grandma extended an invitation for us to come to celebrate the 4th of July. We asked if Dada was going to be there, it was unknown. So, mom said we would be happy to, and that if Dada came we'd be happy to drive the two hours to drop Kaelani off for the day to spend it with all of the family. We finalized plans with Grandma on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

We got up and headed to Heber  Friday afternoon. We arrived late afternoon.  Mom started to set up the tent while the girls went to play with cousins. Kaiya and Skittles disappeared.  Grandpa came out to help mom set up the tent and and give her a hard time!!  After pitching the tent, Kaelani took off and was Grandpa's shadow. After yummy dinner of bbq sandwiches, she went to play in the sand with the rest of her cousins and sister. Mama helped Aunt Becki clean dinner up, and then visited with the adult family. Later, we played games while the kids had a blast!!

After lots of play, we had a bath and put the girls to bed!

We woke up Saturday morning to the anvil going off! It scared Mama to death! With the sounding of the first she thought someone's firework supply just went up in flames. The second one woke up Kaelani who climbed over to hide on mama. Kaiya slept thru all of them. Each time they sounded Kaelani would jump on top of Mama. Once Kaiya was awake we wondered into the house just in time to greet Aunt Amber and Uncle Casey returning from the run. Aunt Amber had ran a personal best! I was impressed!! Grandma whipped up some pancakes. Delicious!!

Kaiya and Kaelani shared a chair next to Grandpa. They sure had fun!! Soon, like clock work Kaelani had a stinky diaper. So, we wondered out to the car to change it . . . not expose everyone to the tinker bum!! On our way out to the car, we spotted Great Grandpa. Kaelani started waving, and as soon as her bum was changed she wanted to "go" and pointed to Great Grandpa. I opened the gate and she took off down the sidewalk. There was no waiting for me!! Kaiya quickly followed having spotted us going over from Grandma's screen door.
We got to visit for a little bit. I loved that Kaelani seemed to remembered Great Grandpa. She gave him two hugs. We talked about the parade and how he was suppose to be one of the loggers on the logger float. But, his arthritis was too bad. I love how happy and smiley he always is! We love Great Grandpa. Before we headed back over both girls gave him another hug!

Great Grandpa, Gizzy, and Bug

It was time to load up! We quickly jumped in to Aunt Becki's van and headed to the parade! It was so much fun! Kaelani and I sat under the awning while Kaiya sprayed and got sprayed. Gizzy did not want to get wet! So, we sat and visited with Aunt Amber, Aunt Becki, Grandpa, and Aunt Katie.
Kaiya waiting to fill her water gun she waited 2 years to use!!

Gizzy hiding from the water!

Can you tell they are all having fun!?

The stay dry we have babies crowd!

Ready and waiting!!

Heber Logger float . . . Great Grandpa should have been on!

Just as we loaded up at the parade and got on the road it started to RAIN! Kaiya had chosen to ride home with Grandma in the back of Grandpa's truck with the rest of the cousins. They seemed to take forever as they were dropping off some of KC's friends. Those of us dry in the truck thought how soaking wet they would be once they got home. It kept raining and raining the rest of the day.

Grandma said it was one of the biggest crowds they had ever had . . . we got home and started prepping for the bbq. Mama was smart and prepped the salad Friday before leaving! So, she was able to help make the hamburger patties, veggie tray, and fruit. Grandma's house was packed because it was raining outside. We ran back and forth from the house to the garage getting Kaiya's plate followed by Kaelani's plate and finally mama's plate! It was fun to eat in the rain under the garage.

After lunch, most of the crowd headed down to the high school to wait for the fireworks. Aunt Amber had sleeping kids and Mama hadn't showered yet. Everyone advised her to wait till after the parade cause you will be soaking wet anyway! She followed Aunt Becki's lead. Kaelani was not wanting to nap, there was so much excitement going on. Kaiya headed down to the High School with Grandma in Grandpa's truck.

At Grandma's Kaelani continued to want to play and not nap. Grandpa offered to watch her while Mama got in the shower. When mama was out of the shower and finishing her make up she could hear some snoring! Not just one snore, but two!! One was a little tiny quiet snore and the other a bit louder . . . she didn't need to look cause she was pretty sure what happened. Suddenly Grandpa phone rand and the louder snore stopped.

This is what Mama came out to find! She asked Grandpa, "Who put who asleep?" He chuckled and Mama and Grandpa bantered back and forth a little. Grandpa decided since he was awake to put Gizzy down on his bed, however when he stood up he must of pinched Kaelani because she woke up! Mama got her to fall back asleep in Grandma and Grandpa's room.
Grandpa and Gizzy - Grandpa just got woken up by his phone!! LOL

At the high school we waited for it to get dark. Then, Kaiya passed out all the glow sticks mama had bought to share and we blew up the light up LED balloons to share! The kids played and played on the tarps and blankets till time for the fireworks. Kaelani and Mama played tickle tag and Grandma was safety!! We had lots of fun growling, running, and tickling . . . and Kaelani like nearly jumping into Grandma's lap!!

The fireworks started we were right underneath them! It was so cool!! Kaiya loved them but was a little freaked out by the echo off the rocks. Kaelani turned away into mama's chest, covered her head with her blanket, and snuggled the entire show. Occasionally she would look up at them and quickly turn away! She is not a fan of fireworks. We haven't decided if it is the lights or the bang! Maybe a mixture of both! She has always been sensitive to light . . . and is not a fan of loud noises.
