Hair

Kaelani LOVES LOVES LOVES to follow Kaiya around!! It is really rather funny . . . if Kaiya moves, Kaelani moves. Kaiya will go to her room, and you can hear pitter patters of Kaelani's hands on the tile following after . . . . if Kaiya goes in her room and shuts the door to accomplish somethign without the interference of her sisters, Kaelani will sit at the door.  Regardless of how many times I go and bring her back to the family room to play, she leaves me, and crawls back to Kaiya's door and waits. She tries to reach under the door . . . she pats on the door . . . an djust waits and waits for Kaiya!

One of the things Kaelani has loved is having her hair combed. The first time I ran a comb thru her hair she got so excited and flapped her arms. I am pretty sure, she views this as a sign of love because she watches me comb Kaiya's hair everyday!!

Last Saturday, as I was getting ready for Kaiya's birthday party, blowing my hair out, she found a smaller brush and kept holding it up to her hair so proud of herself. Of course as soon as I got my camera, she stopped.

This morning after brushing Kaiya's hair, Kaelani grabbed her hair brush and proceeded to brush her hair! She brushed so far back that she tipped over, sat back up and kept brushing!!! Mom had the camera right there ready . . . .

Mother's Day

My Mother's Day started early! On Friday, Kaiya came out of her room with a homemade card and a flower made out of pipe cleaners. Here is a picture of:

The card was so nice and nearly brought me to tears! It read:

"Mom, on this sweet day I want to wish you a happy happy Mother's day. Hope all your wishes come true. I made this myself.
Love, Kaiya"

Then, as I woke up in the middle of the night, I had this sweet poem from Danny waiting in my e-mail:

Kaelani you are so little, perfect, healthy, and a blessing to me
I am so grateful we have extended happiness and our family tree
So much joy and happiness I know you will bring, your a daughter of God and that means something
You are my child, my baby, and so much apart of me,
Tender will I love you, and valiantly protect thee
Later in life I will start to lose time with you, like school, church, and dating n, things
But in this moment of peace and tranquility, I will just hold you, I will just hold to me
My child your bare body to mine, this is life's precious moments, that God has designed
Thank you Mother for the 9 months you gave
Shelter a home warmth food and occasionally a tickle or two
Mama, just hold me for now, I love your warmth, tenderness, and that your so proud
I am grateful to have you for a Mother, Dada says your the best around
I Love you MoM
Your Loving Daughter Kaelani Faith Palmer

I love Danny and his thoughtfulness. That is the picture, I believe he described that accompanies the poem.
To Danny and the girls, thank you for making me feel special with your kind thoughts and words!!!

Kaiya's 7th Birthday Party

Kaiya celebrated her 7th birthday today with friends . . . yes, a full two and a half weeks after her birthday!! She woke up this morning and was a little concerned. She asked, "Mom, are you still coming to the party because you are sick?" My response was, "Kaiya, who came to your dance recital after giving birth to sister, when she was suppose to still be in the hospital?? Who came to your 1st grade program when she was sick and really really needed to be in bed?" She responded, "You."  I then asked, "Kaiya, Mom will ALWAYS be where you need her, because you and Kaelani are the most important to me, even if they wheel me in on a stretcher I will be there for you girls." Oh how I really just wanted to rest today . . . but I didn't!! I didn't even go to the party with my hair in a pony, no make-up, and comfy clothes . . . why??  Well, I have a little girl, who just turned 7 that has expressed, "I like you better when you do your hair and wear make-up." So, I got myself all dolled up so Kaiya would like it better just for her birthday!! I love her honesty!!

Needless to say, she had a blast!! It was a busy day, she had a swim party early this afternoon for one of her best friends birthday, and then hers!! She invited 15 friends and 11 friends were able to come. I think all the girls had a great time!!
Coach Kaysie (taught Kaiya swimming since she was 16 months old), Kaiya, ?, and Nick, helped the party be EASY for me and FUN for Kaiya!!!

Going Buggy

Kaiya had her 1st grade performance tonight! She had the opening line!!

"Ladies and Gentleman, Bugs Everywhere
Raise your antenna and lend us your ears
Were here today to make a declaration
That effects our nation!"

She did it spot on!! I was so proud of her!! She was adorable!! I have truly been so blessed to have such such beautiful little girls bless my life!! There are ups and downs, moments needing teaching . . . but most of the time on the average day is great!!

When No One Is Looking . . . .

This Wednesday, as I have tried to to all year, I volunteered in Kaiya's classroom. The entrance to her classroom has a window next to the door, from ceiling to floor, there are blinds which are never closed. This week as I approached the classroom, I peeped in the window to glance at the happenings of the room before entering, the students were all very diligently at work. Kaiya was sitting right in front of the door and window, and was leaned over looking at the other students work. The student whose work she was looking at is a little boy who has been for lack of a better word "picking on her."

The week before, I received a note on her progress report stating she needed to learn to work better with all students and not just with her friends. I asked who she wasn't working well with, she stated the students name.  I of course knew exactly why! Why would she want to work well with someone who has pushed her around so much on the basketball court she refuses to play it anymore, or who has shoved her to the ground and twisted her arm behind her back!! Hello!! I wouldn't want to work with him either. But, being mom, I took the road I had to take and we talked about how when our teacher asks us to work with someone even if we don't want to, we have too. And how we don't always get to work with people we like, our friends.

I opened the door, everyone was quiet. Fully expected to see other students working in pairs, because my first thought was, "Oh, he must be lost or doesn't understand and bug is helping him." However, I open the door and I instantly recognize what is on their tables, it is the district timed math tests. And I just caught my daughter CHEATING!! I stood their quietly for a few minutes, her teacher was on the computer.  He catches me out of the corner of his eye, and his head pops up. Kaiya turns slowly, and gives me for lack of a better word, the look she gives me when she has been caught. I just whisper, "I don't think you are suppose to be looking at his paper."  She smiles slightly.

My heart SUNK!! We have had the entire, why is cheating wrong . . . aside from getting the answers wrong, she doesn't seem to get why it is wrong.  We spent lots and lots of time talking about what cheating means. Is it honest or dishonest. If mom isn't there to catch you and teacher doesn't catch you, who always knows you did wrong? And of course, we went over what will you do next time you are tempted to cheat!! At times, I wonder if I explain things well enough for her to understand . . . and I hope that I am not too easy or too harsh when disciplining!!

I love this little girl. She is amazing!!

Thought provoking

Been spending a lot of time thinking, about how to improve myself as a person, become who I am suppose to be, make my outward self match my heart. I love reading good quotes these days. Here are a few I found today that helped me . . . .
I have failed at this one in an area or two today. How much trouble would be avoided in live if each of these were followed! Tomorrow is a new day, and tomorrow I will do better. I will listen, think, earn, wait, forgive, and the one I am best at keep trying!!!

While others have told me I have too much patience, and take too much.
I feel I don't have the most patience, and can always use more.
This, put me in my place, when I want to lose patience with someone, remember how patient God has been with me. How patient He has been to me, to continually extend His love to me, even after I have made choices and fallen from grace. I have a long way to go from where I once was as His daughter, but He has not given up on me. He, and only He sees the beauty within my heart, knows the sincere desires I have within and is willing to wait while I become who He sees me as . . . only He loves unconditionally and waits without stopping for me.  Yet, as an imperfect soul, I seek that love, the seeing my diamond in my rought, and that patience from others, rather than from my Father and my Savior.

This could once be said of me, once there was a time that if someone spoke ill or bad of me, no one would believe it! I know as I strive to become the charitable daughter of God, that this will return. As long as I am living in a way that I am becoming more like my Savior, soon no one will again believe bad of me!

I am grateful for the atonement. I am grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. I am grateful that He is the power to take our sins from us, heal our flaws, mend our broken hearts, pick up our shattered lives, and walk by us as we face our trails, stumble thru fixing our imperfections, and try miserably to be better people. I am so grateful for my Savior, for His never ending faith in me, even when I cannot find it in myself. I wish I could place my heart on here. I am just so grateful for the Gospel, for my Father in Heaven and Savior being their to love me and wrap their arms around me when I need it most.

Trust begets Trust

“If you trust God enough to listen for His message in every sermon, song, and prayer . . .   you will find it. And if you then go and do what He would have you do, your power to trust Him will grow, and in time you will be overwhelmed with gratitude to find that He has come to trust you.”  President Henry B. Eyring
I pray and anxiously await the day when the Lord trusts me again! I hope and pray I have followed His counsel in faith and trust in Him, how I so greatly hunger for His love, trust, and peace in my life. Great quote, thought I'd share!

Bath Tub Hatred!!

Until about a week ago, both of the girls have LOVED LOVED LOVED baths! Then, suddenly Kaelani fought to get into the tub as usual, but started crying as soon as she was in the tub. I thought, maybe it was a fluke . . . teething, sleepy, or some other silly issue. However, this phase continued! So, I figured she keeps trying to climb out to me . . . I will try getting in with her!!

Needless to say, that idea didn't work!! Instead she just climbed up me to get out of the water!! Kaiya thought is was quite funny that I was in the tub trying to bathe Kaelani!!

When You Need an Extra Hand

Kaelani decided to help me empty the dishwasher today. She discovered a few things, a cup, a tuperware container, and this green bowl. After playing with each of them for a few minutes, she decided this bowl was hers. And when you need to get going places, but need both your hands to get there what to do you do? You use your mouth of course!!!

Driving and T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!

Kaelani came with me to pick up Kaiya from school. We arrived a bit early, so I rescued her from her carseat. She loved playing in the front seat on my lap, including stealing my straw out of my beverage.

When we got home, Kaelani discovered a napkin, below is the TROUBLE she caused with that napkin!! It was quite exciting for her to sit and tear it to bits and pieces, and quite fun to watch her!!
