Fire! Fire! Fire!!

The idea of there being a fire in my house has been bothering me a lot lately! It started sometime ago, with just being worried that if Kaiya couldn't get out of the house in an emergency without me, what would happen!! Kaiya is a bit more self-help able than Kaelani . . . so my priority would be Kaelani based on independent ability. Then, there were the fighterfighter visit to my school, followed by a students house going up in flames, followed by that same day a house fire on the drive to dance, and finally the firemen coming to Kaiya class today!!

So, after showing me how they learned to put out fire on their clothes today (you know, the STOP, DROP, and ROLL), I decided it was time to make sure she knew how to get out of the house from her bedroom, or Kaelani's room, and for that matter even my room!! What does she do if she can't use the door!! So, we talked about it, looked at it, and Kaiya asked if she could try!! This may come back to haunt me when she is a bit older . . . . but, she now knows how to unlock her window (top and bottom locks), push screen out, climb out window, and open the gate to get out of the backyard!!

Opening top lock on window!

Climbing out window!

Pushing up latch on gate

Running to the meeting place

Waiting at the meeting place!
Kaelani doing her job, just looking cute!!

After learning how to escape the house in the case of any emergency, Kaiya wanted to swing in the backyard. I have some bugs trying to spin webs on my Italian Cyprus trees, so I had to spray them off. And of course . . . . that mean the water got away from me and sprayed the unsuspecting swinger . . . . I mean the pressure in the hose was just so strong I couldn't direct it properly . . . or wait, Kaelani grabbed the hose and sprayed her sister! That erupted into Kaiya wanting her swimming suit and a all out soaking of her as she "avoided it." Fun evening!!

Then, just cause I am feeling all in the spirit of being prepared . . . . can you guess who this is??

Yes, that would be little . . . okay not so little . . . but me!! When the fire department came to talk to the kids about fire safety, they had us teachers get dressed up in the "gidup" to show the kids there is a person and not to be scared!! I got to dress up (boots and all) in the morning presentation. Ms. Garcia got to dress up in the afternoon presenation!! All I can say is HOLY COW!! I would have dropped all my baby weight by now had I been lugging just that uniform around . . . . they had me carry one of my students to substitute the air tank . . . . . YIKES!!

Easter Dresses 2012

One of the things I am loving at this point . . . is Kaiya wants to have her sister match her!! Which is pretty darn cute of her!! Kaiya leads the way in choosing the matching outfits!! Gotta love this big sister!! Sure love her!!

I WANNA TAP TOO!!!

Kaelani frequents dance class as much as Kaiya. The only difference is Kaelani just gets to sit and watch while Kaiya does all the "badonka donk shaking." Kaelani has developed a favorite dance class . . . that class is TAP!! When we are there she is glued to the window watching the girls tap dance, she will beat on the window, and occasionally claps for the girls while they dance! As soon as the door opens, Kaelani tries to bolt into the tap room.

On day when Kaiya is in Jazz, Kaelani would prefer to watch the tappers over in the tap room. And if that door is open, she jets across the hall to try to get in!! On ocassion she beats mom there and is so pleased with herself for being in the tap room. She is adorable!!

The Many Things You Can Do with an Egg

We did lots on Saturday as part of Easter! Saturday morning, we joined Grammy and Granddad at their Ward Easter Egg Breakfast and Hunt. Kaiya didn't collect many eggs, she found a ton! But, instead of collecting them for herself, she pointed them out to other kids!!

After the breakfast and egg hunt, we went and met up with our Palmer family for an egg hunt in an Orange Orchard. We tried to go last year, but were unsure where it was, and couldn't get there in time. We had lots of fun with Grandma Palmer, Aunts, Uncles, and couins! We missed Dada terribly!  Kaiya found the coveted Golden Egg in the Orchard, and received a FABULOUS PRIZE!!!

One age group ready to go . . . .

Kaelani not so thrilled . . . .

After the Egg hunts, we went home for a nice rest, both girls took a nap. The potato salad was chilled, and we went to Aunt Becki's for a nice lunch, egg dying, and lots of playing!! Dada's presences with dearly missed . . . . it was a hard day.

TWINS

Kaiya loves to declare her little sister her TWIN - - anything matching equates to twins!! And she loves for them to MATCH!! Here is another TWIN DAY!! Some plain silliness, and Kaelani protesting the use of a hair bow!!!

And I have concluded . . . my CAMERA ISN"T FAST ENOUGH to catch one little girl who would rather have the camera than be caught in a picture by the camera!!! LOL!!
