Returned home tonight, put the daily newspaper into the recycle bin, and heard this very faint noise (I mean very very faint, Danny would be proud, it was that faint. All those times of telling to look and listen for the thing that doesn't fit the norm). It stood out, didn't fit in to the normal sound . . . . started looking around. Low and behold, I find it coming from the shingles on my roof. Kaiya grabs a flash light, and we discover it is a little bird, no feather, just under the shingle. We leave, so that we don't make the mama bird mad, and go in the house.
I went to take the garbage out, and find TigerLily on the roof pawing at the same shingle that the bird was in. I get TigerLily down, but not until after she has knocked the poor bird out of the roof line!! Aaagh!! Poor bird, was on the cement still breathing, Kaiya was upset. There is stood . . . I refused to touch the bird, and cannot possibly bring out the shovel and put a living baby bird in the garbage, or kill it.
So, I do what to me is the next reasonable thing, I call my Visiting Teacher, and she comes with her husband. They kindly help . . . okay, fine they did all the work, picked the bird up, and placed it back where it fell from! I hope it survives!! If not, then . . . . well, I will cross the bridge when we get there!!
TigerLily, was found pawing and scratching my jogging stroller just after pawing the poor bird out of the roof. Right now, she is not on my good side!!
