Kaiya loves camping!! A few years ago, we went to Big Lake together and had a blast!! I asked her what was one thing she wanted to do this summer, and her response was go camping!! So, I promised as soon as she was home from Japan, we would go camping. She kept asking, when are we going camping mom?"
We left on Tuesday, and came back on Saturday! We had a fun! We stopped in Flagstaff for dinner with Auntie CC, and then headed out to our spot! We has so much FUN!! Kaelani did wonderful and loved being OUTDOORS!!! Although, she didn't want mom to be able to easily set up the tent. So, mom set the tent up one handed, while Kaiya helped where she could!! Kaiya will be a pro at setting up a tent by the time she is a mom!!
Wednesday, we went on a WHIRLWIND TOUR!! We went to see the Meteor Crater! That was extremely fun, and interesting to explain to Kaiya!!
On our way back to camp, we stopped at Walnut Canyon and had an exciting walk down all the steps and on the trail!! Kaelani did fabulous in her hiking backpack! And it was fun to get to talk to Kaiya about the people that lived in these ledge houses. It was also so much fun to talk to her about the Book of Mormon and how the people that lived here were descendants of Lehi. It was just cool to share with her my testimony, and a bit of look how smart these people were . . . and aren't we glad we have a record of their spiritual and ancestrial history!
Kaiya hadn't had enough "hiking" so she wanted to do more. Before heading back to camp, we made one more stop, Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monument! By the time we were done, Kaiya was ready to go eat and sleep!! In the midst of all the hiking, she decided she was going to collect pins to put on her camo hat. After the first two, she deemed that hat would be her "lucky hat."
Kaelani had a blast in her hiking backpack!! She kept "ma" "ma" and gabbing as she pointed to all the trees, birds, and other sights!!
(This is getting to be a very very LONG POST!! Gonna make it a couple posts!!)
